Queen and Country
Queen and Country is the name for his project dealing with the was in Iraq. The project, which consists of cabinets containing stamps of soldiers killed in action, was purchased by the Art Fund and toured Britain for a good while. McQueen feels that the project will not be finished until Royal Mail officially releases the stamps to the public.
The second-in-command of the Ministry of Defence said to McQueen, "We're not against the stamps, but why can't you do landscapes?" and McQueen responded with, "Are you ashamed of these people?"
